Graphcore is seeking a highly skilled Signal Integrity Engineer to join their Hardware Engineering team in Bristol, UK. This role involves designing and optimizing high-speed signal pathways that enable cutting-edge AI compute systems to operate efficiently at data center scale. The successful candidate will influence the electrical performance of Graphcoreâ??s hardware platforms, ensuring that high-speed interfaces such as 112Gbps and 224Gbps SERDES, DDR memory, and processor interfaces function within strict system constraints.

Key responsibilities include developing, analyzing, and simulating PCB structures across production systems and test boards. This involves defining launch points, via configurations, transmission lines, and PCB stack-ups using low-loss materials to support future hardware designs. The role spans multiple phases from initial concept through prototype development, debugging, validation, and supporting manufacturing processes.

As part of the team, you will work closely with colleagues involved in PCB design, system architecture, package substrates, and suppliers. Your role will require making signal integrity decisions across complex interfaces, participating in simulation, design reviews, and practical testing to balance performance and trade-offs. You will be expected to own and guide signal integrity considerations, challenging designs and providing technical insights to achieve optimal system performance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-speed digital circuit development, with a deep understanding of signal and power integrity. Experience with high-frequency SERDES design and validation, especially at tens of GHz, is essential. Proficiency with simulation tools such as ANSYS SIWave, HFSS, or Mentor HyperLynx is required. You should be capable of designing PCB launches for BGA packages and connectors, including via structures and GHz-level transmission lines. Hands-on laboratory experience with VNAs, high-speed oscilloscopes, and signal generators is also necessary. A rigorous, detail-oriented approach to design, debugging, and validation, along with strong communication skills, is highly valued.
