Currently, there is an opportunity for a Software Engineer based in Galway, Ireland, within the Product and Engineering division. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software systems that support Cisco’s product offerings and technological advancements.
As a Software Engineer at Cisco, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality features and solutions. Your responsibilities will include participating in code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to process improvements to ensure efficient and effective development cycles. Staying current with industry trends and integrating new technologies into your work are also key aspects of this role. Additionally, you will be involved in documenting technical specifications and design decisions to support ongoing maintenance and future development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software solutions to meet product requirements and improve system functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality features.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues efficiently.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate innovative technologies where appropriate.
- Assist in the documentation of technical specifications, design decisions, and user guides.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in software engineering with proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, version control, and agile practices.
- Experience working with cloud services, APIs, and modern frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
