As a Software Engineer at Deliveroo, you will play a crucial role in achieving team objectives while also contributing to projects beyond your immediate responsibilities. You will report to managers and group leads, working collaboratively to deliver impactful results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to team goals through individual work and collaboration with team members.
  • Lead projects and ensure high-quality technical execution by improving code structure and architecture.
  • Review code produced by the team and simplify the maintenance and operation of production systems.
  • Build relationships with other engineering teams to identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Own larger work pieces and assist in design and technical implementation decisions.
  • Participate in the hiring process by conducting engineering interviews and supporting the growth of team members.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated pride in creating readable, well-designed, and well-tested software.
  • Experience in writing web-based applications in any programming language, with a willingness to learn new languages such as Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience with web architecture that handles high traffic (20k requests per minute and above).
  • Knowledge of NoSQL data backends and other technologies like Redis, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, or Memcache.
  • Ability to solve logistical challenges through software development.
