The Observability Engineering Team is responsible for managing access to these telemetry platforms, and we are looking for someone who is technically proficient and customer-oriented. Your focus will be on the producer side, working with instrumentation patterns, OpenTelemetry SDKs, and collector configurations to ensure teams can emit consistent and high-quality telemetry.

In this role, you will leverage your engineering skills, including emerging AI technologies, to improve how teams instrument and operate their services. You will collaborate closely with application and infrastructure teams to enhance service-level visibility across C#, Python, and Kubernetes-based services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extend and maintain OpenTelemetry SDKs, libraries, and collectors to enhance observability.
  • Build and support instrumentation paths for both Kubernetes and non-Kubernetes workloads.
  • Embed observability standards across platform and application teams to ensure consistency.
  • Leverage AI and AI-assisted engineering to boost productivity and deliver value.
  • Scale and improve telemetry backend systems and pipelines for better data handling.
  • Enhance incident response capabilities through improved telemetry coverage.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rotation to support system reliability.

Who Are We Looking For?

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Good understanding of metrics, logs, and traces, and their application in debugging and operating services.
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, ArgoCD, Helm, or Jenkins.
  • Interest in AI engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to enhance incident response and root cause analysis.

Why Should You Apply?

  • Highly competitive salary along with an annual discretionary bonus.
  • Lunch provided through Just Eat for Business and access to a dedicated barista bar.
  • 35 days of annual leave, plus additional leave for office-based employees.
  • 9% contributions to the company pension scheme.
  • Informal dress code promoting a comfortable work environment and excellent work/life balance.
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance coverage.
