Lenovo is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support its Solutions and Services Group (SSG) across Europe and the Middle East, Africa (META). This role involves providing expert legal advice on complex services and solutions transactions, including cloud-based offerings such as Device as a Service (DaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Managed Services, and Industry-specific solutions. The successful candidate will serve as a key legal partner, managing the legal workstream for large-scale deals, supporting negotiations, resolving contractual issues, and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless contract execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee legal aspects of SSG transactions, supporting negotiations and resolving contractual issues while working with internal teams and external partners to facilitate deal completion.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and counterparties during negotiations to ensure positive outcomes.
- Gain a thorough understanding of existing contractual commitments and provide legal support for the development of new services, software, and solutions.
- Advise the SSG team on legal, regulatory, and commercial issues that may arise in different jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams, outside counsel, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across multiple regions including the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.
- Partner with Sales and Contract Management teams to negotiate and close complex, large-scale deals involving SSG services.
- Work with the Global Contracts Team and other units to develop training, templates, and a library of standard contracts for all service offerings.
- Identify legal issues early, involve relevant experts, and supplement internal resources with outside counsel when necessary.
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal guidance to enable efficient deal execution while managing risks appropriately.
- Ensure all transactions comply with company policies, risk frameworks, AI governance, and other compliance standards, maintaining transparency with leadership about deal status and risks.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience negotiating complex, multi-country service contracts in the IT or telecom sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen, with an understanding of profitability drivers and the ability to prioritize legal risks in negotiations.
- Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills, capable of handling enterprise technology and managed services agreements.
- Experience working closely with sales and commercial teams in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment.
- Ability to operate effectively within a global organization involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Proven ability to represent the organization professionally during customer negotiations, building trust and minimizing friction.
- Experience with technology financing models, such as leasing or lifecycle management, is a plus.
- Comfort working in dynamic, evolving legal and governance environments.
- Experience with subscription-based, ‘as-a-service’ models is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong project management capabilities and commercial awareness.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and sound judgment.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
