Arm is seeking a highly skilled Staff or Principal Software Engineer to take charge of post-silicon firmware releases and defect management for their data center and infrastructure platforms. This role involves leading the planning, readiness, quality assurance, and delivery of firmware updates across multiple teams and hardware configurations, ensuring that complex silicon-based systems are released smoothly and efficiently.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing defect resolution processes, establishing effective triage and prioritization strategies, and providing clear visibility into potential release blockers and risks that could impact project timelines. Additionally, they will coordinate the requirements for post-silicon development environments, translating engineering plans into specific demands for development boards, system configurations, debug equipment, and lab capacity across various locations and projects.
Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, requiring close work with teams across different Arm sites to align priorities, resolve dependencies, and enhance firmware delivery processes. The role also involves overseeing the integration, validation, and release of firmware for server-class System on Chips (SoCs), contributing significantly to the development of infrastructure platforms used in data centers worldwide.
Required Skills and Experience
- Significant experience working with firmware or low-level system software, especially in delivering production-quality software for complex hardware systems.
- Proven experience in managing software releases, defect tracking, and system integration activities across multiple engineering teams within the SoC domain.
- Strong understanding of post-silicon firmware development, including software integration, validation, release processes, and hardware debugging environments.
- Excellent technical judgment, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities to facilitate collaboration across teams and regions.
- Experience working with hardware development environments, debug tools, and lab setups to support firmware development and troubleshooting.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of server-class SoCs and production firmware used in infrastructure platforms.
- Familiarity with Arm-based systems and technologies such as Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), UEFI EDK II, SCP/MCP firmware, Linux, or OpenBMC.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release automation, software configuration management, defect tracking, and hardware debugging tools.
