The role involves designing and implementing advanced security measures across multiple cloud platforms and physical data centers, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of AI systems at scale. The Security Engineering team is committed to maintaining trust and safety through developing critical security infrastructure, establishing secure development practices, and collaborating closely with research and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop security architectures for extensive AI clusters, including identity management, network segmentation, and encryption controls.
  • Implement network security policies such as default-deny ingress and egress rules, segmentation between operational environments, and private connectivity solutions across clouds and data centers.
  • Automate deployment of security controls using infrastructure as code and GitOps workflows, ensuring security defaults are inherited by new infrastructure components.
  • Create systems for monitoring network traffic, detecting boundary breaches, exfiltration attempts, and automating safe remediation actions.
  • Design secure development workflows and CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on Kubernetes security, container hardening, and identity management.
  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for complex, multi-cloud environments, working with infrastructure and networking teams from the initial design phase to embed security considerations into topology, routing, and firewall policies.
  • Mentor engineers, contribute to team growth, and promote best practices in security engineering across the organization.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess between 8 and 15+ years of experience in software engineering, especially in building and maintaining critical, large-scale systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or other systems languages such as Go, Rust, or C/C++.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and cloud automation, including infrastructure as code.
  • Hands-on experience in network security engineering in cloud or on-prem environments, including VPC design, cloud firewall policies, egress controls, and network segmentation.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes security features, network policies, service identity, and container security.
  • Experience in threat modeling and risk assessment for multi-cloud systems.
  • Proven ability to uphold high engineering standards through code reviews, mentorship, and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills to clarify complex concepts and foster cross-team collaboration.
  • Low ego, high empathy attitude, supporting diverse and inclusive teams.
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup environments.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Experience with secured Kubernetes networking at scale, such as CNI, service mesh, or mTLS rollouts.
  • Work in high-assurance environments requiring evidence-based controls.
  • Experience managing interconnects and private links between cloud providers and physical data centers.
  • Development of network traffic visibility or exfiltration detection systems.
  • Exposure to large-scale distributed training infrastructure.
  • Leading cross-functional security initiatives and navigating complex organizational dynamics.
  • Managing infrastructure through automated configuration and policy enforcement.
  • Hardening containerized applications and enforcing security policies.
