Join Arm as a Staff Verification Engineer specializing in Media IP, based in Cambridge. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled verification engineer to become part of the Arm Systems Media IP team. The team focuses on developing advanced Image Signal Processors (ISPs), Display Processors, and Video codecs, which are integrated into Arm Compute Subsystems for diverse markets such as automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), and consumer devices. Our intellectual property portfolio includes Register Transfer Level (RTL) designs, reference drivers, tools, and libraries, enabling our clients to build innovative and cutting-edge products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and own verification activities for a complex Data Processing Unit (DPU) subsystem, overseeing all phases from initial planning to final sign-off.
- Contribute to the design of verification architecture, including planning, integration strategies, and establishing quality benchmarks.
- Create reusable, scalable, and high-performance verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM, along with verification IP components.
- Develop comprehensive verification plans that specify scope, coverage goals, sign-off criteria, and quality metrics.
- Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks early, coordinating mitigation efforts across teams.
- Review architectural and design proposals to ensure correctness, observability, and performance standards are met.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex verification failures at various levels, including unit, cross-unit, and system.
- Coordinate verification activities and dependencies across relevant teams working on units, subsystems, and the overall DPU.
- Implement improvements in verification methodologies, automation, reuse, regression, debugging, and continuous integration processes.
- Use verification data to identify quality gaps, improve bug detection, and guide engineering priorities.
- Provide evidence-based technical recommendations to influence project planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with architecture, design, and software teams to ensure successful integration of the DPU into complete systems.
Required Skills and Experience
- Deep expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM, including designing and reviewing complex verification environments.
- Practical experience verifying on-chip bus protocols such as AMBA APB and AXI, or similar industry standards.
- Proven ability to develop verification plans from scratch for complex IPs or subsystems, including coverage and risk assessment.
- Experience verifying subsystems with multiple units or highly complex units.
- Hands-on experience building verification testbenches.
- Programming skills in Python, C, or equivalent languages for automation and scripting tasks.
- Knowledge of verification tools and infrastructure, including regression management, version control, and linting tools.
- Strong ownership mentality and motivation to complete verification tasks effectively.
- Ability to adapt to evolving specifications and work through ambiguity with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style.
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with power-aware verification techniques.
- Familiarity with formal verification methods.
- Previous work at the IP or subsystem level.
- Contributions to industry conferences or publication of technical papers.
- Experience with performance analysis of hardware components.
- Knowledge of reference models developed in C.
Additional Information
This role does not include relocation support. If visa sponsorship is necessary, Arm will cover the costs associated with sponsorship for the employer. However, the candidate will be responsible for all personal application fees, including visa application costs and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
