Capgemini is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team working on the Cooling Water Island project. This role involves delivering detailed structural analysis, design, and assessment for various civil infrastructure projects within the GBEâ??N programme. The engineer will be responsible for producing and reviewing structural calculations, models, drawings, specifications, and technical reports, ensuring all work complies with relevant standards and regulations.

The successful candidate will support the development of technical documentation and design substantiation to meet project, regulatory, and governance requirements. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, process, construction, and safety teams to develop integrated engineering solutions. You will undertake assessments under normal, construction, environmental, and extreme loading conditions, including seismic scenarios where applicable.

Participation in design reviews, technical assurance activities, and the resolution of engineering queries are integral parts of the role. Ensuring that all designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, and the CDM 2015 obligations is essential. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement initiatives, sharing knowledge, and mentoring less experienced engineers and graduates.

Candidate Profile

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with progress toward Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in the structural design and analysis of reinforced concrete, steel, and civil infrastructure, particularly in coastal and marine environments.
  • Knowledge of UK and international design codes, complex structural loading scenarios, and processes related to engineering assurance, reporting, and design validation.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supporting projects in regulated sectors such as infrastructure, energy, or nuclear industries.
  • A strong understanding of structural engineering principles, safety standards, and environmental considerations relevant to coastal and marine projects.
