As a Summer Intern Data Researcher at BAE Systems, you will have the chance to engage in a variety of data science research projects that cater to clients in the defense, security, and commercial sectors. This role is based in Great Baddow, Essex, and offers a competitive salary of £25,900 (pro-rata). You will be expected to work on-site 3-5 days a week, with opportunities for hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

In this position, you will collaborate with diverse teams within the Data Applied Research group, focusing on cutting-edge areas such as reinforcement learning, natural language processing, knowledge graphs, AI for RF and electronic warfare, sonar, and acoustics. You will conduct innovative research on assigned topics, often in partnership with leading universities, and will be responsible for developing prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations. Additionally, you will prepare technical reports and proposals based on your research findings.

To qualify for this internship, you must have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, at least a 2:2 in an undergraduate degree in a relevant STEM field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Electronic/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering, or Physics. A Master’s degree related to AI will be beneficial for future graduate roles, and you should demonstrate an active interest in applied AI research.
