As a Systems Analysis & Simulations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in optimizing optical Space-to-Ground communication links and services. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Conducting simulations and analyses to enhance optical Space-to-Ground communication links and services.
• Developing and testing algorithms for predicting link availability using meteorological forecasts and terminal sensor data.
• Estimating and optimizing link performance based on anticipated conditions and empirical data analysis for ongoing improvement.
• Utilizing Archangel Lightworks’ laser communications network simulation tool to evaluate the overall performance of optical communication systems, aiding in site selection and network architecture development.
• Defining use cases, scenarios, and key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing extensive simulation datasets, and enhancing simulation efficiency.
• Creating technical reports, visualizations, and presentations to effectively communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Assisting in the development and testing of additional analysis and simulation tools to enhance product performance and service delivery.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in systems analysis and simulations.
• Proven experience in developing complex models and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, preferably with meteorological data related to networks or communications.
• Experience in developing, testing, and analyzing empirical data.
• Proficiency in processing and analyzing large datasets efficiently.
• Familiarity with MATLAB and Python programming languages.

Desirable additional skills include experience in satellite communications, understanding of optical turbulence and associated modeling tools, knowledge of orbital mechanics and satellite constellations, and experience with machine learning or neural networks for meteorological analysis and network modeling.

Our office is located in Osney Mead, Oxford, and while there may be opportunities for remote work, this will be determined in agreement with your line manager. Periodic business travel may also be required.
