As a Systems Engineer in the Database Services (DBS) team, you will be part of a world-class group dedicated to managing and operating some of the largest distributed database and analytics services globally.
The DBS team is responsible for high-demand services such as DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Glue, and EMR, providing you with the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that feels like a startup. You will engage in operating and engineering systems at a massive scale, gaining invaluable experience in cloud computing while collaborating with passionate professionals committed to customer success and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a leader and subject matter expert on multiple AWS services.
- Develop, build, deploy, operate, sustain, and enhance services in cloud production environments.
- Analyze trends and metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Refine and develop procedures for team and internal customer use.
- Deliver high-quality development while managing new and ambiguous problem domains.
- Operate advanced cloud computing infrastructure.
- Simplify and innovate systems, processes, and tools for better customer and builder experiences.
- Create unique solutions to technical challenges faced by customers.
- Learn from experienced Amazon Senior and Principal Engineers.
- Coach, hire, and develop team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in site reliability engineering (SRE), systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security administration, or network administration.
- Proficiency in working with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols like HTTP and DNS.
- Experience in designing and developing scripts to automate operational tasks.
- Experience in a 24/7 production environment.
- Familiarity with service-oriented architecture and web services.
