We are seeking a Technical Director to lead our infrastructure solutions software team within the CE-SW group, providing technical leadership for a globally distributed engineering team responsible for developing highly complex software for cloud and data center products.

Role Overview

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence large-scale technology development, shape organizational strategies, and oversee the delivery of critical software components that impact infrastructure technology worldwide. The role involves guiding a team through the entire software development lifecycle, from pre-silicon development and silicon bring-up to production readiness, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer strategic technical guidance and leadership to the software team, ensuring steady progress and high-quality outputs across all projects.
  • Work closely with senior leaders across hardware, software, architecture, and product teams to align on technological strategies and organizational objectives, influencing key decisions at the company level.
  • Analyze product requirements, architectural specifications, and industry standards to inform software design and development efforts.
  • Implement and promote best practices in software engineering to enhance efficiency, quality, and predictability of project outcomes.
  • Manage the entire software lifecycle, including pre-silicon development, silicon validation, and production deployment, ensuring seamless integration and validation processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record of delivering complex system software and leading large, distributed engineering teams within the embedded or infrastructure SoC sectors.
  • Deep expertise in System-on-Chip (SoC) software, firmware, platform software, and system validation in both pre-silicon and silicon environments.
  • Strong understanding of low-level systems such as bootloaders, device drivers, and operating systems, especially Linux.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture principles relevant to software development for hardware platforms.
  • Exceptional leadership, technical judgment, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide cross-organizational decisions.
  • Preferred experience with server-class SoCs, including features like RAS, power management, PCI Express (PCIe), Compute Express Link (CXL), memory, and virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with Linux kernel, Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), UEFI EDK II, OpenBMC, or Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) is advantageous.
  • Experience leading technical teams of over 100 engineers within the SoC domain is highly desirable.

Salary ranges vary by location: Cambridge (£168,300 – £227,700), Sophia Antipolis (â?¬136,800 – â?¬185,000), Bengaluru (â?¹11,025,000 – â?¹18,375,000).
