We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead and shape complex programs within our Science and Strategic Initiatives Unit, particularly focusing on Science Automation, with an emphasis on lab automation in material science and life sciences.

This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with researchers across various fields, work with multidisciplinary teams, and engage with external partners to translate our research breakthroughs into real-world applications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete planning and execution of projects utilizing various methodologies, including agile boards, risk trackers, and budget management to ensure goals are met.
  • Clarify and eliminate ambiguity by converting high-level strategic objectives into detailed, actionable plans with specific milestones and deliverables.
  • Transform research findings into tangible impacts such as products, demonstrations, or partnerships by collaborating with leadership and external partners.
  • Proactively identify solutions to potential issues and risks, monitor progress, manage technical documentation, and determine necessary requirements, including technical dependencies.
  • Mentor team members and foster engagement by building strong relationships, enhancing workflows, and motivating individuals to reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in managing projects that involve cross-functional or cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience in managing significant collaborations with external partners and overseeing external vendors.
  • Familiarity with robotics, automation, materials labs, wet labs, or systems engineering.
  • A solid technical foundation with an understanding of artificial intelligence as it relates to lab automation and lab-in-the-loop research.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams, including engineering, computational biology, and product teams, and to simplify complex technical concepts for executive audiences.
  • Proven track record of enhancing processes, workflows, and governance to boost research efficiency.
  • Strategic mindset to manage high-stakes external products and partnerships while ensuring research progress remains on track.
