Our client, a leading UK-based technology firm, is seeking a skilled Test Engineer to join their team in Southampton, Hampshire. Role Overview

The Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining both automated and manual testing systems for 5G RF and wireless communication products. The role involves ensuring reliable verification and validation across the company’s product portfolio, supporting the development of scalable testing frameworks primarily in Python, with some C or C++ components.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain automated test systems to evaluate 5G RF and digital interfaces, ensuring they meet industry standards and specifications.
• Build modular, scalable test frameworks using Python, supporting remote operation, logging, and reproducibility of tests.
• Implement testing aligned with 3GPP standards, executing tests across 5G and 6G domains with automated tools and custom platforms.
• Work closely with product and development teams to understand and translate requirements into effective test architectures and scripts.
• Ensure seamless integration of test systems for development, integration, and system-level testing across all components.
• Develop test solutions for emerging high-speed digital interfaces, tackling associated technical challenges.
• Create detailed technical documentation, including user guides, architecture descriptions, design specifications, and test procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in RF testing, with the ability to configure and operate RF test equipment confidently.
• Knowledge of 3GPP standards, wireless system architecture, and RF behavior relevant to 5G and 6G technologies.
• Proven automation experience, especially in building automated test workflows supporting remote operation, logging, and reproducibility.
• Strong system-level thinking skills, capable of deriving test requirements from technical diagrams and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and explain technical concepts effectively.
• Proficiency in Python programming, capable of developing modular and well-structured code; some C/C++ skills are advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including diagnosing issues through logs, data, and measurements, and proposing structured solutions.
• Educational qualifications should include an HNC or a degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, or High-Frequency Technology.
