Join BAE Systems as an Undergraduate Airframe Engineer and become part of a global network dedicated to pioneering advancements in defense, aerospace, and security. This 12-month placement, starting in June 2027, is based at our Warton/Samlesbury location in Lancashire, where you will be expected to work on-site 4-5 days a week.

Role Overview

The Undergraduate Airframe Engineering role encompasses four key disciplines: Aerodynamics, Design, Materials, and Structures. Each discipline plays a crucial role in delivering products that meet customer requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

• Aerodynamics: Utilize various methods, including wind tunnel testing and computational techniques, to analyze and optimize aircraft design for safe operation across the flight envelope.
• Design Engineering: Manage stakeholder communications, oversee product bill of materials, and create CAD definitions for optimized and manufacturable products.
• Materials Engineering: Analyze, qualify, and test materials, investigate material properties and failures, and develop new materials for airborne platforms.
• Structures Engineering: Conduct structural analysis calculations to validate the strength, stiffness, and structural integrity of BAE Systems platforms.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must be on track to obtain at least a 2:2 Bachelorâ??s degree or a pass at Masterâ??s level in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
